Best ZFS Snapshot Scripts
By WretchedGhost
- One minute read - 160 wordsI came upon a very powerful and simple script when I was searching for a good way to automate the ZFS snapshots. I have found this to the best one so far in terms of how I can edit the script and tweak it for my use very easily.
I know that other scripts and programs exist such as sanoid by Jim Salter, which you can find at his GitHub page here jimsalterjrs/sanoid, but I have found iceflatline’s script to be quite good at what it does which is a basic ZFS snapshot creator.
My fork of the iceflatline’s script can be found here at https://github.com/wretchedghost/zfssnap

The reason I “forked” it was due to the fact that I was running zfssnap in Linux and not FreeBSD which has different placement for programs like grep, zfs, etc. Also, if iceflatline ever decided to shutdown their website I want a copy for myself to maintain.
